…Climate stats for the midsouth through July 31st…

Most locations across the midsouth have been very dry during the first seven months of the year.
The intensity of this drought significantly deteriorated this past Spring when many locations fell below normal rainfall totals. The story has been much of the same for this Summer as hot and dry conditions continue over the area. The one exception has been eastern Arkansas and the Missouri bootheel where drought conditions have not been as bad.

Below are some climate statistics for area observing sites from January 1 through July 31.

…July 2007 warm and dry…

The month averaged 79.9 degrees at the Airport in Nashville…which is 0.8 degree above normal.
The warmest temperature was 95 degrees on the 19th and the coldest was 62 degrees on the twenty-second. The total rainfall was 1.47 inches…which is 2.30 inches below normal.
This makes it the 9th month in a row with below normal precipitation…and severe to extreme drought conditions continue. There were several minor severe weather episodes.

Crossville averaged 73.8 degrees for the month…which is 0.6 degree below normal.
The warmest temperature was 89 degrees on the 8th…while the coldest was 53 on the twenty-second. Total rainfall was 4.78 inches …which is 0.35 inch below normal.

Clarksville averaged 76.9 degrees for the month and tabulated 0.54 inch of rainfall.
The warmest temperature was 95degrees on the 19th..while the coldest was 55 degrees on the twenty-third.
