Triple digit heat continues across the midsouth.

Most locations across the midsouth recorded high temperatures in the triple digits on Thursday with many locations such as Memphis…Tupelo…and Jackson tying or even surpassing previous records.

Triple digit heat will continue across the midsouth today with many locations approaching or breaking record high temperatures once again. Heat index readings will once again reach advisory criteria with locations in the 105 to 110 degree range through Saturday.

A brief break in the heat wave with high temperatures below 100 degrees may occur this weekend as a weak cold front brings more moisture and clouds to the midsouth on Saturday…then perhaps slightly cooler air on Sunday. However…100 degree heat may still occur this weekend…and will likely return Monday through Wednesday of next week as high pressure builds in. A significant cool down may occur by the end of next week which may end the current heat wave.

The tables below illustrate the observed temperatures through August 23rd.
